Emili

Photo above was taken a couple of weekends ago at a lighting session with the Bay Area Photo Club down in Galveston at Gately Paper Company. We were putting together some examples of unusual and creative lighting scenarios for a presentation on March 21. This is Emili, who's modeled for us before. Two SB800s with red gels from behind on either side, one SB800 with a purple gel directly above her head -- all shooting directly into the camera position, hence the flare and bokeh. In post, I drove a little blue into the shadows in the background. 1/40 sec at f/16, ISO 200, 32mm.

  1. Yeah, those are some really interesting shots playing around with the gels. I'm assuming some cloning or content aware Photoshop magic was done to remove the light stands from the two outer flashes. The third one was hidden by her body. Nice job on exposure. Love the wraparound light from the gelled lights.
