backlit

Here's another in the series ... photographing a bird and being in the right place at the right time. This was taken last spring in Galveston. I had packed up my gear and leaving when this scene just jumped right out at you - one of those times when you just had to unpack, set up again, and shoot for another 30 minutes as the sun set.

  1. The only thing that I cannot figure out is why were you leaving in the first place? Very nice shot. Maybe you do not need to go to my bird workshop after all.

  2. Well, this guy was far down the pier from where I was shooting, and I didn't see him until I was right on top of him. This is my homage to Tim Timmis - when faced with a backlit shot and no flash, just go with it.
